Program Notes
The Parting Glass (arr. 2025) is an arrangement of the traditional Scottish/Irish song that highlights the love, loss, celebration, and nostalgia of a gathering of friends. This arrangement's changing meters, subito dynamics, and orchestrational pivots evoke the twists and turns of life and gesture to hope for the future, even when one's own path is unsure or unknown. A huge thanks to Michael S. Brown Jr. for commissioning this brass ensemble arrangement of The Parting Glass.
