Where You Are Now

Where You Are Now (2019), written for bassoonist Aviva Klein, is a piece about realizing how far one has come in life. The work’s title is derived from the quote “Remember that once you dreamed of being where you are now” (author unattributed). Where You Are Now is somewhat narrative in nature, as two seemingly conflicting themes are introduced, explored, and intertwined, celebrating the slippery and completely imperfect manner in which we experience life, the path to our dreams, and how we arrive there in sometimes unexpected ways.
