Breathing Underwater

Breathing Underwater (2019) was written for the euphonium, tuba, and piano trio Conviviality for premiere at the International Women’s Brass Conference. The piece is based on a recurring dream I have had for several years where I am breathing underwater, quite easily and happily, and spend what seems like the next few hours exploring coral reefs, exquisitely blue shallow waters, deep sea trenches, and everything in between.
